Steps For Successful Volunteering With Us

You have viewed our website and have made the decision to join our volunteer program, but where do you start? We have outlined the steps we feel are necessary for you to get started and to have a successful volunteer stay with Samarpan Nepal.

1. Choose a program
Choose a program that best suits your talents and passions. We feel that it is best that you select one program for each volunteer period. You can always volunteer for another program in the future.

2. Apply online
Fill out our easy online application form to register for the program of your choice. We suggest that you fill out all boxes to ensure timely processing. To enable us to better understand your needs, please place any special requests or concerns in the comment box prior to submitting your application.

3. Verification and program schedule
After submission, your application will be evaluated and verified within a week. Once you have made and confirmed your flight reservations, please make us aware of your flight schedule. We will then re-confirm your program dates and send you an itinerary.

4. Pack and depart for your program
Pack any necessary travel documents, medications and clothing needed for the duration of your stay. If you have questions about what is necessary or suitable, please contact us for recommendations. Get on your plane, relax and get ready for a new adventure in Nepal.

5. We will pick you up at the entry port in Nepal
You will be welcomed and picked up from your entry port in Nepal. This will normally be at the Tribhuvan International airport in Kathmandu, Nepal if you arrive from any country other than Nepal.

6. Visit our Office
You will be transported to our office from the entry port.

7. Pay your program fee and sign your volunteer contract
Once you have been transported to our office, you will need to sign a volunteer contract and pay your program fee.

8. Receive basic program instructions
After all paperwork and fees have been processed, we will review the program basics with you and answer any additional questions you might have at that time. You will now be ready to get settled so you can start your volunteer program.

9. Be introduced to your Host Family
Most volunteers elect to stay with a Nepalese host family. This is not only a more economical option but it allows the volunteer to absorb their surroundings and to more fully immerse themselves in the family traditions. If the volunteer chooses to stay in a hotel, those expenses will be the responsibility of the volunteer.

10. Start your volunteer program
You are now prepared to get started on your exciting adventure as a Program Volunteer. Be prepared, be on time and most of all – just have fun and enjoy your time with our wonderful children. The time spent with our children will be one of the most memorable times of your life. Soak it all in and experience the love that they so willingly share.

11. Take time to schedule a tour

If you are interested, there are many tour destinations available. Read more about this exciting opportunity on our Tour Page.

12. Take time out for relaxation

Many volunteers find that they want to spend some time just relaxing prior to returning home. We will assist you with this option, if you decide to spend a few more days in Nepal. Just let us know that you wish to spend some leisure time with us and we assist with those arrangements.

13. Take time to depart
After you have bid everyone farewell, we will take you to the exit port in Nepal for your journey home.
