Volunteering through our organisation provides a ground-breaking opportunity to learn and experience the huge varieties of Nepalese culture whilst making a difference, all without having to pay any extra money. During the volunteer experience, each participant will be hosted by a local family, thus providing a unique and memorable experience of all the varieties of Nepalese tribes and communities. Nepal has more than one hundred different tribes and ethnic groups who together speak over seventy different languages. Within this rich tapestry, there are countless different cultures, festivals, ceremonies, costumes, rituals and lifestyles, all which go together to make a stay here unforgettable. By staying with one of the host families and sharing their cuisine, their language and their traditions, the experience will stay with you forever.

Volunteer’s safety
We provide the utmost care for every volunteer and the issue of safety is paramount to us. We keep in constant contact with all the relevant agencies, from embassies to hospitals, security forces, political organizations, the Red Cross and any other organisation that might be required to make the volunteer experience go smoothly and one to always cherish.

Food and accommodation
Meals are served at least three times a day and includes a range of tasty local dishes including rice, curries, dals, milk and vegetables and fruit, all provided by the host family. The level of hygiene is very good and there is no issue with being bored with the same dish every day. Our host families will provide a variety of meals to keep your diet varied and always interesting.

Vegetarians are happily catered for. Bathrooms although not luxurious are more than adequate and are shared with the host family. Separate bed and blankets are provided although unfortunately there are no washing machines, so you will need to hand wash your clothes when required. A mosquito-proof net or repellent measures are provided for your use.

Things that volunteers expect to do in homestay
As a volunteer, you can learn Nepalese culture with first-hand experience by staying in a host’s home. You can learn to cook local food and share in the rich language and culture during your stay. Imagine the stories that you can share in an evening of each other’s traditions and culture. There will also be an opportunity to help with small kitchen tasks and yard work etc.

Host families
We have a wide number of host families within our project who are always eager to share their lives for a brief time with our volunteers. Their homely environments provide a fantastic way for visitors from all cultures and countries to understand and experience Nepalese culture, languages and cuisine. Their races may vary but all our volunteers are made to feel like a member of the family rather than just a guest, which all goes to make the whole experience one to never forget.
